HERZLICH WILLKOMMEN  |  WITAM SERDECZNIE

My name is Philipp Wycisk.

I am a professional conference interpreter and your point of contact for multilingual communication. Based in Wiesbaden, I am offering interpretation in German, English and Polish at events with international guests as well as at private appointments in the Rhine-Main region, throughout Germany and abroad.

About me

Since graduating from university in 2019, I have been working as a professional linguist and conference interpreter for German, English and Polish. I draw on a wealth of experience that I have been continuously expanding since my studies.

A good interpreter is characterised by their mastery of their craft. Excellent language skills in the native language and one or more foreign languages are just as essential as intercultural competences and knowledge in selected specialist fields.

Services

As an interpreter, I translate speeches orally from one language into another. Languages are categorised as A, B and C languages, where A stands for native language, B for active foreign language and C for passive foreign language. With my combination - ABB –, I interpret from English and Polish into German and vice versa from German into English and Polish.

In addition, a distinction is made between the following types of interpreting. These also represent my range of services:

Simultaneous interpreting

In simultaneous interpreting, speeches are translated simultaneously – in real time – from one language into another. Interpreters sit in a soundproof booth or use a mobile system. Listeners are therefore able to follow speeches without any delays.

Simultaneous interpreting is probably the best known of all types of interpreting and is used predominantly at conferences and congresses. However, the need to provide conference equipment is just as important as the fact that simultaneous interpreting requires a high level of concentration. Accordingly, interpreters usually work in pairs and take regular turns.

Consecutive interpreting

In consecutive interpreting, interpreters traditionally use pen and paper to take notes and then reproduce what has been said in the target language immediately after the speech.

This type of interpreting is particularly suitable for ceremonial occasions with table speeches or events with short speeches. However, it should be noted that the duration of the assignment may even double under certain circumstances due to the sequential timing of the speech and interpretation.

Chuchotage

A special variant of simultaneous interpreting is chuchotage (French: to whisper). Interpreters sit next to or behind the listener and whisper what is being said in the target language into their ear. The advantage here is that no conference equipment is required. On the other hand, only one person – and possibly another person depending on the acoustic conditions – can follow the interpretation. Accordingly, this type of interpreting should only be chosen as a mobile solution or for short periods of time.

Liaison interpreting

Just as chuchotage is a special form of simultaneous interpreting, liaison interpreting is comparable to consecutive interpreting. Liaison interpreting is suitable for discussions between several people gathered around a round table, whereby the interpreter translates the respective speeches into the target language with a time delay.

In addition to the types of interpreting already mentioned, remote interpreting is a form of interpreting which has emerged with increasing digitalisation. Interpreters take part in events virtually via meeting platforms such as Microsoft Teams, WebEx or Zoom etc. without being in the same place as the speaker and the audience.

Above overview may already have served as an indication regarding the choice of the right interpreting type. Of course, I will be more than happy to personally advise you on the choice of service tailored to your needs.

My areas of expertise

I specialise in the following areas – please do not worry if you cannot find your area of expertise. Professional interpreters are characterised by the fact that they are able to familiarise themselves with the specialist terminology of a wide range of industries in the shortest possible time.

"Für die Verdolmetschung der Verleihung des 60. Theodor Heuss Preises ins Englische am 24. Mai 2025 in Stuttgart bedanken wir uns sehr herzlich. Der Sprecher der Präsidentin der Republik Moldau konnte somit der Veranstaltung gut folgen und war für das Podiumsgespräch, das er in Vertretung für Präsidentin Maia Sandu geführt hat, bestens informiert."
